‘What is the world, then?’

‘An illusion, One we can either submit to – as most do – or transcend.’

“It’s actually really interesting to me. It’s sort of based on the research that’s sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it’s instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don’t show it? And it’s about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into people’s brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin and sort of locating who that person is.” -Kristen Bell, (IGN, 2006)

Next time on KOS-plays classic games we take a look at a game that started a lie that wearing a hoodie makes you less suspicious.

The beginning of the franchise that made you look at historical buildings on Facebook and comment “I climbed that!” and got you suspended in middle school. The leap of faith that was Assassin’s Creed (2007). We will dive into more than sales and what inspired the creators. No, this time around we will Instead look at a bigger question that the game asks, ” what is a memory?”

Careful, I’m no rookie. I’m a ten-year vet.

“War… has changed. It’s no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It’s an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War, and its consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed.” – Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Next time on KOS-plays Classic Games we continue our tour of Japan with a look at one of gaming most beloved, confusing to some, and over the top franchises… Metal Gear Solid. MGS1 was released on September 3, 1998. The theme that crops up constantly in this game is genes. What are we? A combination of life experiences, nature, and nurture, or are we trapped by our genetics? This and many more questions will be explored in our next episode. Stay tuned.

Round 2… Fight!

Episode 1 of KosPlays Classic Games was a success! We were able to reach some viewers and gain some new subscribers to our Youtube Channel. Next up on our trip through time is the year of 1996. The gaming industry had some great titles that year with the release of Nintendo’s N64. Such great titles as Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64. Over on the other team you had Resident Evil launch its first game on the old Playstation. But, we aren’t looking at any of those just yet. Because we are sticking with fighting games and covering the game were developer Capcom said “lol, what if Ryu punched Wolverine.” The game that helped launch the very idea of the Crossover fighting game genre. The granddaddy of them all… X-men vs Street Fighter!

Our first game will take us back to the great year of 1993. Where the Jurassic Park was actually good and we all Raged Against the Machine because Skynet was bound to happen in real life soon. A game that was the equivalent of mixing your toys together and letting them fight. We start with Mortal Kombat 2!
